Why does xbox live always update games?

Every time I start up a game there is always an update for it. Even if my friend starts up the same game and has no update i will still have one. I have plenty of space left on my hard drive(about 50gb) so there is no reason for me to continue to get the same update time after time. This happens with downloaded xbox games and discs also.I am afraid that these updates will eventually consume my memory and it is extremely annoying. Why does xbox live always update games?
Games can and do update from time to time, for whatever reason - maybe fixing a bug or something. However, the only time you will see the update screen is if you are connected to Live - once you go to play a game on live, it checks to see if there are any updates available as part of the loading process. If there is, you get the update option. If you aren't on live, the game cannot check, so you don't get this.

Your friend may not have live, or may not have it switched on when they play. Or, they have already updated it.

As for memory, it will use up some memory, but likely not that much. You are better to update it, though - a game may not play well online if you don't (particularly if it is fixing some bug or glitch). The game will still play fine offline without it, though. Why does xbox live always update games?
I think it has something to do with the Kinect software, as ever since its come out, each game i put in my xbox needs updating, though its only once per game.

i dont think theres anything you can do other than update it, or go on xbox forums with your question? Why does xbox live always update games?
Either your friend has already done the update, or he is not connected to xbox live. They update the games to improve them obviously.
Just keep updating. It won't take up 50GB. YOur friend may have downloaded the update already, or he may not have Xbox Live. The update is improving the game, like glitches.
