It depends if the game originally supported Xbox Live. Games like Halo 2 can be played over Live while most others will only allow offline play where you can't access your guide button or any other feature included in the new Live.Does the xbox 360 support live on original xbox games?

Yes it does, I know for a fact you can play Halo 2 and Conker Live and Reloaded
